Hobby Knife Kit

After days of try to figure out the bushings that goes with the hobby knife, I was able to turn the wood, a got a very good shape on it. But when I went to assemble the knife it was a little bit shy on the back side of the knife a left a small gap between the wood a the end of the hardware. Was impressed with the way it fit in my hand, the store bought ones are to slim an hard to hold, this was was just about perfect for me.

Overall I like the kit and would buy more. Very simple!. One small change I think would make it better is to add a small step to the end where the knurled nut is that would go inside the tube. This would keep the blank centered and from moving around when it is tightened. Make it just slightly smaller than the bushing size so it is not to tight.

Fun easy to make project. My friend really liked it.

I have got to admit it, I was skeptical of this hobby knife kit, but when I got it out to turn one, I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the kit. I have made a few of them now and I am very happy with the kit.

I have not used this kit yet, as soon as the tubes come in I will probably be designing how I want to turn the kit. I have been looking for a reasonably priced kit with a cap and I have a couple of ideas I want to try. I see this kit fitting into the custom kit turning as a solution to the small uncomfortable hobby knifes sold and gives the user something personal to make their coworkers jealous.
